Things to know when you are traveling with pets.

By Juan Figueroa

Airlines have some restrictions and limitations for people traveling with pets to ensure the safety for both the pet and the people around the pet. In this article you are going to see a lot of information about limitation and restrictions but if you still have questions after reading this information you should visit the airline page or call the airline for more information.

You have couple options when it comes to travel with your pet. One of them is that you can travel with your pet as a carry on or you can have your pet traveling as checked baggage. The second option is not always possible due to the Temperature Restrictions. Some airlines dont allow pets to travel when the ground temperature is more than 85 degrees Fahrenheit or below 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

The airlines have fees for checked pets and for pets traveling in the cabin. For more information about this you need to contact the airline. Have in mind that when you are traveling with pets you cant do express check in; you need to go to the airline ticket counter.

Pets traveling in the Cabin

Only one pet per passenger its accepted per ticketed passenger.

The pet needs to have enough space on the kennel to move around, stand up and lay down in a normal position.

Your pet must remain in the kennel all the time while you are in the airplane cabin.

The airlines have different restrictions about age and weight of your pet. You must call your airline for more information about age and weight restriction of your pet.

The airlines have limitations on how many pets are allow in a flight. You might want to do your reservation with time in advance and find from your airline how many pets are allow in flight.

Pets traveling as checked baggage

Pets are not allow when flights are over 10 hours

The pet needs to have enough space on the kennel to move around, stand up and lay down in a normal position.

You can have up to 2 pets traveling as checked baggage per passenger. There are some kennel series restrictions per airplane an airline.

I hope my information helps you to plan your trip when you are traveling with your pet. Dont forget to call the airline for any other question.
