Is it safe to have a pet snake with young children?
Answered By Paige Harbold
It is not safe to have pet snakes especially
if you have children with compromised immune
system. Snakes are considered high risk
animals and are the common source of
salmonella infection in children. If ever you
already have the pet before your children was
born, keep it away from your children under
five years old. Teach your older children to
wash their hands after handling the pet snakes.
